VINTAGE WOVEN BLUE & DIAMOND BEADED BASKET – PAIUTE TRIBE

Vintage woven basket that was originally purchased in 1996 from Natalie Linn who is well known as a basketry expert. Basket is from Paiute tribe that is from the Great Basin region. Basket is completely beaded with blue, gold, green, and white beads. “Native American basket weaving is an ancient and sacred craft with deep historical roots in daily life and ceremony. Baskets were essential for practical purposes like storing food, carrying water, and transporting goods, while also serving ceremonial and cultural roles.” Baskets need to be tightly knit that it can hold liquids. Outer basket measures 3 3/4 inches in length and width and is 2 inches tall.
