Wonderful Hopi Owl Kachina from award winning Hopi artist Tyson Nequatewa. Meticulously hand carved from the root of the Cottonwood tree and hand painted. “The Hopi Owl Kachina is a powerful warrior kachina and a disciplinary figure known for punishing clowns for non-Hopi behavior during ceremonies. Associated with intelligence, wisdom, and agricultural protection, he often appears in the Bean Dance, Water Serpent Ceremony, and mixed dances.” Kachina measure approximately 2 5/8 inches long, 2 5/8 inches wide, and 6 1/4 inches tall. Signed on the bottom of the base “Tyson Nequatewa” and “Hopi Owl”.
